The Morris Performing Arts Center is pleased to present the outdoor lunch-time concert series, Fridays by the Fountain on the Jon R. Hunt Plaza, in front of the Morris Theater, each summer between the months of June and August. The concert series traditionally runs every other Friday and features live entertainment from local Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, and Country bands. The concerts are free and open to the public and run from 11:45 M - 1:15 PM.
Food vendors are available and they offer a variety of lunchtime favorites including pizza, sandwiches, salads and pasta, or you may choose to 'brown bag' it. Tables are set in and around the plaza to give the concertgoers a space to eat and rest and enjoy the festivities or you may opt to bring a blanket and relax on the lawn.
Since 2001, this event has become an annual tradition at the Magnificent Morris. For the past several years the event has gained an extensive audience such as local business people, young families and senior citizens alike, all coming to enjoy the free concerts, outdoor dining opportunities & the recently restored fountain. Fridays by the Fountain has attracted a wide audience to the plaza.
Fridays by the Fountain add summertime excitement to downtown South Bend, attracts attention to the Morris Performing Arts Center, and makes a positive economic impact on the community.
Sponsorship

Because it is offered as a free event to the community, the Morris Performing Arts Center depends largely on the generosity of St. Joseph County businesses to make Fridays by the Fountain a great success. By participating as sponsors, businesses can show their support for the community as well as add to the on-going revitalization of Downtown South Bend.
There are great value-added benefits to businesses that sponsor Fridays by the Fountain. Major level concert sponsors will see their name in lights on the Morris Grand Marquee, which is seen, daily, by the more than 50,000 drivers and their passengers as vehicles pass by the theater. Also, participating businesses can reach thousands of people through the many advertising opportunities they will receive for their company in return for their contribution.
For detailed information about sponsorship opportunities and the benefits of each sponsorship level, please contact the the Morris Administrative Assistant or the Assistant Director of Booking and Event Operations at 574-235-9198.
Bands
Q: How are bands selected to play at Fridays by the Fountain?
A: We are always in search of new local bands to play and we welcome any and all demos. If you're band is interested in performing, the following procedure must be followed:
- Send us your promotional packet and/or press kit. This should include personal information about your band- style of music that is played, band member names, contact name, address, phone number and email address, and a list of places and dates where your band has performed.
- Samples of your music in CD form. As we receive numerous demos each week, please allow 4-5 weeks as we listen to all of them. All demo submissions are responded to by email. If your band is selected to perform at one of the concert dates we will contact you. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!
